Second Home Study Visit
Our social worker came back for her second visit last night. When she told us she was coming for another visit to discuss finances, we thought she was going to look through all of our data. Being dorks, we tried to figure out how best to format it in Excel, etc. Then we stopped and realized we were, as usual, complicating things. We have a talent for taking things that are relatively straightforward and making them horrendously complicated. So we decided to break wtih tradition and not prepare at all. This was fortuitous since all going over our finances meant was comparing forms for discrepencies. Glad my husband and I did not whip out the Power Point presentation or run an audit trail. A little nerd humor for you....
I have to admit I was feeling a little frazzled. She called the day before she came. I was having what I call a "mommy endurance day". One of those days that should have the theme song to "Rocky" playing in the background.
As usual, she made us feel comfortable. We went over the parts of the study she completed and looked for errors, etc. It is very odd seeing your life encapsulated in a document. Not to mention, we look like the most boring people ever. Oh well, I guess the truth hurts. :)
We went to the notary this morning and notarized forms for two additional criminal database checks as well as a Citizenship and INS form. We will mail in our packet with our form I-600A tonight. Then we are offically on to the next step. I personally do not know what that is at this point. When I look at the process in its entirety, I become overwhelmed so we are just trying to take it as it comes. Next week I will figure out what is next on our adoption agenda. One thing I know for sure is that we are one step closer!! YES!
